SPRING 2019 FISHING REPORT

After a relatively mild winter, spring is just around the corner in the tidal waters surrounding Charleston, SC.  With the rising water temperature, the fish will begin changing their behavior patterns and eating more aggressively.  Spring offers some of the best top water trout fishing of the year.  “Walking the dog” with a Heddon Super Spook Jr. is one of my favorite choices.  Redfish will begin moving off their shallow water mud flats towards structure in search of food.  Cast near oyster banks, docks, or any other structure during lower tides using shrimp, mud minnows or artificial lures.  For artificials, I like all the Z-MAN soft plastic products.  This time of year can be very windy and the weather can change quickly so be sure you know the forecast before you head out.
